    Flagship · Sole architect

    Multi-tenant telemetry SaaS platform

    A .NET desktop agent installed on customer factory PCs collects production data from their SQL Server databases and reports to a Blazor Server cloud dashboard. Plant managers get live KPIs, downtime analysis, and scheduled PDF and CSV reports without touching a database.

    Golden Watch: LTE GPS tracking collar

    A tracker I designed for my two golden retrievers, built the whole way down. ESP32 firmware talks MQTT over LTE to a broker I run in Azure, and a Blazor Server dashboard shows live positions on a map with geofences that are enforced on the device itself.

    • Firmware in C++ with deep-sleep duty cycles and queued QoS-1 commands
    • Hardware-free simulator so the whole stack is testable without a single board

    Protocol drivers from the wire spec

    Wrote a TCP/IP device driver in JavaScript for an industrial OPC UA server from the raw binary protocol document, and a Modbus TCP client library in C# for real-time drive monitoring. Debugged with Wireshark, byte by byte.

    ADO.NET to EF Core migration

    Led the move of a large WPF application's data layer off hand-written ADO.NET onto Entity Framework Core, with change tracking, observable bindings, and a migration recipe the rest of the team adopted.

    Material-yield optimizer

    Standalone C# core library plus WPF front end implementing cutting-stock algorithms that reduce raw material waste. CSV in, optimized cut plan out, per-machine configuration.

    Ground-up WPF control application

    Part of the 5-person team that took the company's flagship desktop application from architecture to customer release, then owned it for 6+ years. Built the TCP communication layer with connection recovery and real-time data-change eventing.

    Nine years, one growing scope

    Started in the field commissioning equipment. Ended up owning the software that runs it and the cloud that reports on it.

    1. 2023 – Present

      Senior Application Developer Sturtz Machinery, Ohio

      • Architected and shipped a multi-tenant SaaS telemetry platform as sole developer: desktop agent, Blazor Server dashboard, REST ingestion APIs, automated reporting, per-tenant isolation.
      • Designed and deployed the Azure infrastructure behind it and the container-based release pipeline.
      • Implemented network protocol drivers from raw wire-format specifications in JavaScript and C#.
      • Led the flagship WPF application's data-layer migration from ADO.NET to Entity Framework Core.
      • Lead code reviews and mentor developers on a 5-person team; own architecture decisions for new features.
    2. 2017 – 2023

      Application Developer Sturtz Machinery, Ohio

      • Developed a ground-up WPF (C#) control application for the flagship product line, from architecture to customer release.
      • Built the client-server communication layer over a proprietary TCP protocol: connection recovery, structured error handling, real-time data-change eventing.
      • Created self-service diagnostic tools that cut support calls and on-site visits.
      • Owned the SQL Server data layer, schema design, and migrations across a live installed base throughout North America.
    3. 2016 – 2017

      Field Service Technician Sturtz Machinery, Ohio

      • Led capital-equipment installations and customer acceptance testing, including CPK statistical process validation. Trained new technicians through full commissioning.

    I am used to being the person who designs it, builds it, deploys it, and answers the phone when it breaks. That loop makes me write code that is easy to operate.

    Debug from the wire up

    When a library hides the problem, I open Wireshark. I have implemented protocols from spec sheets, which means I rarely get stuck at the "it just does not connect" stage.

    Long-lived code, kept healthy

    Six-plus years on the same production codebase taught me how to modernize without breaking customers: incremental migrations, patterns the team can follow, and no big-bang rewrites.

    Customers are real people

    I started in the field, installing the machines my software now runs. I still write features by asking what the person in front of the screen needs at 6 a.m. on a Monday.
